1. The New Haven Ravens will host their annual Meet the Manager event at TK's American Cafe in downtown New Haven (285 George Street) TONIGHT (Wednesday, February 5). The event, which is free, will run from 5:30 to 7:30 and feature new manager Marty Pevey. Additionally, all Diamond Club members (season ticket holders) will receive a coupon for a free beverage. Pevey will talk about his plans for the coming season, drawing on his experience managing many of next year's Ravens while with Single-A Dunedin last year. Pevey, a former Major League catcher, has been a coach or manager in the Blue Jays system every year since 1996.

2. The Ravens' annual Hot Stove Luncheon will take place on Thursday, February 13 at noon at the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale (155 Temple Street, by the New Haven Green). The guest speaker is former Red Sox outfielder Jim Rice. Tickets are $40 per person and will be held at the door. Tables of ten are available for the discounted rate of $360. 3. Baseball America has released its top prospects list for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Ravens' affiliate in 2001 and 2002, and two Ravens are featured prominently. Righthander Jimmy Journell was named the #2 prospect, while righthander Rhett Parrott made it to #7. Journell, 25, debuted with a no-hitter for the Ravens in 2001. He followed that up with a 2.70 ERA and 66 strikeouts in 10 games last season before being promoted to Triple-A. Parrott joined the Ravens midway through last year and went 4-1 with a 2.86 ERA. BA also tabbed former Raven John Gall as the Cards' best hitter for average, and projected him as the starting first baseman in St. Louis for 2006. Dee Haynes was named the best power hitter, and Matt Duff was singled out for the best slider.
