
McPherson and Hills Honored by AFL

TAMPA BAY - Storm quarterback Adrian McPherson and wide receiver Joe Hills were honored for their performances in a 69-47 win over the Cleveland Gladiators this past Saturday night. The AFL announced that McPherson has earned the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of The Week, and Hills has been awarded the Cutters Catch of The Week.
"We're proud of these men," said Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. "They played hard against Cleveland and helped us earn our first win of the season."
Russell Athletic Offensive Player of The Week: McPherson (6'3, 227, Florida State) in his second game in a Storm uniform accounted for ten total touchdowns. He completed 25-of-38 passes for 362 yards, eight touchdowns and zero interceptions, while also rushing three times for 31 yards and two touchdowns. He finished the night with a 136.2 quarterback rating.
Cutters Catch of The Week: Hills (6'5, 215, Tennessee State) electrified the arena with his performance versus the Gladiators this past week. In the second quarter Hills reeled in a 15-yard touchdown pass, and then flipped over the boards and out of the end zone. Afterwards, he ran through the crowd to the delight of the fans. This was his second touchdown of the night. Hills would go on to catch 10 passes for 155 yards and three touchdowns. He has now extended his multi-touchdown game streak to six.
AFL MVP of The Week: For the second week in a row quarterback Adrian McPherson has been nominated for AFL MVP of the Week. Voting opens on Wednesday, April 3 at 1:00 PM EST, and can be found at www.arenafootball.com. Fans can vote as many times as they want. Voting ends on Thursday, April 4 at 1:00 PM EST, with the winner being announced later in the afternoon.
