DURHAM, N.C. – San Angelo LF Buck McNabb has been named the Rawlings Central League Player of the Month for May.

McNabb, 30, went 43-for-99 (.434) and was the only hitter in the league to bat better than .400 in the month. He scored 18 runs, recorded 20 RBIs, walked seven times and stole three bases. He knocked nine doubles, two triples, two home runs, slugged .626 and had a .473 on-base percentage.

McNabb was not named player of the week in any one week in May. He was held hitless during just four games in the month and capped off May by going 11-for-14 in his last three games including a 5-for-5 performance versus Coastal Bend on May 31.

After a nine-year career in the Houston, Cleveland, Chicago (NL) and Atlanta organizations, McNabb played the last three seasons with the Chico Heat of the now-defunct Western League. He was a career .288 minor league hitter coming into 2003 in 4,135 at bats and spent parts of two seasons in Triple-A.

Rawlings is the official baseball of the Central League. Rawlings Sporting Goods of Fenton, Mo., is the industry leader in baseball equipment, producing top-flight baseball bats, balls, gloves, jackets and team apparel.
