Chicago Rush News Release

August 9, 2007 - It didn't take long for Chicago Rush star fullback Bob McMillen to find his next job. The Rush announced today that McMillen has been hired as the team's fullback/linebackers coach.

"I'm excited for the opportunity," said McMillen. "My playing career is over, but to continue to be involved with the Rush organization as a coach is a dream come true. I am looking forward to coaching alongside the best coaches in the AFL."

"Bob McMillen is a welcome addition to our coaching staff," said Hohensee. "He knows the game well and we plan to put him in the right position to make him the most successful coach he can be."

McMillen, who retired at the conclusion of the 2007 season, played 13 seasons in the AFL, including the last five with the Rush. He won three ArenaBowl titles and in 2006, was voted one of the 20 greatest players in AFL history. He finished his career second on the AFL's all-time rushing list with 1,508 yards and fifth all-time in rushing touchdowns with 85.

In addition to adding McMillen, Rush head coach Mike Hohensee also has reassigned some coaching staff responsibilities for the 2008 season. Defensive coordinator Walt Housman, entering his eighth year with the Rush and 10th overall with Hohensee, will return to coaching both the offensive and defensive lines in addition to calling the defenses; vice president of player personnel and defensive backs coach Brian Schwartze will add the title of assistant head coach; and Ryan Leonard is back as wide receivers coach and special teams coordinator.

In addition, player personnel assistant Scott Bailey remains in his role for the 2008 season.
