LAKE CHARLES LA. - Happy New Year from your Louisiana Swashbucklers! A new year brings new beginnings as Shadrick McAfee takes over as head coach of the Bucs.

McAfee is no stranger to the organization, having been a defensive back and wide receiver throughout the team's existence. As a former player and now coach, McAfee is determined to keep the championship tradition going as the team prepares to defend its Southern Indoor Football League title.

"The players and I have one common vision, and that is to win," McAfee said. "I plan to keep our winning tradition alive. The Swashbucklers represent the people of Southwest Louisiana. The former coaches here have created a culture of success and I want to build upon the foundation they started."

The Swashbucklers are entering their sixth season having won three consecutive league championships of which the first two were with the Intense Football League. Among the veteran players returning for 2010 are quarterback Alvin Bartie, wide receiver Sammy Knight and running back Jermaine Martin.
