Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - In a night of firsts for goals and assists, the Missouri Mavericks charged through St. Charles ice and took a 6-1 victory over the Chill with a solid display of special teams skill and goaltender talent.

The St. Charles Chill were the first to score on Wednesday night, ending the Mavericks streak of perfect starts, but that would be the only goal the Chill would claim in the game. Try as they might on seven power play opportunities, the St. Charles team could not break through the tough walls of the Mavericks' defense, even while short-handed.

The Mavericks would leave the first period scoreless, trailing for the first time in the season, but all that would change in the second twenty minutes of the game, when the Mavericks offense caught fire and melted away any chance the Chill had at a comeback.

John-Scott Dickson scored the equalizer for the Mavericks, followed by goals by Evan Vossen, Eric Castonguay, a power play goal from Andrew Courtney, and another point from Kyle Hood before the second period came to an end.

Dominant is the only way to describe the Mavericks' play on the ice. Short two men from their roster, Colt King and Dave Pszenyczny, the Mavericks team had to make up a lot of ice time and offensive and defensive pressure on Wednesday night, and they certainly delivered.

Even with a comfortable four goal lead, not once did the Mavericks let up their pressure on the Chill, allowing the most recent addition to the Mavericks team, forward Obi Aduba, to score a finishing touch sixth goal in the third period for the Mavericks to lock in the 6-1 game.

The Mavericks are undefeated on the road as they head into their next matchup against the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night at 7:35pm.

The Mavericks play their first home game on November 2. Individual tickets and Season tickets are on sale now. With season tickets starting at just over $11 per game and FREE parking, the Mavericks are the pinnacle of family affordable entertainment.
