
Maurice Carter makes the jump to the NBA

MILFORD, CT â The United States Basketball League, Inc. (USBL), had another player move onto the NBA as former Texas Rim Rockers star Maurice Carter made his debut with the Los Angeles Lakers last night. Carter scored four points in his debut last night. Carter had been playing for Cedar Rapids River Raiders Head Coach Dave Joerger in Dakota of the CBA before making his debut with the Lakers. Carter joins Keith McLeod, Olden Polynice, Oliver Miller, and Ime Udoka as former USBL players making their debut in the NBA.
Over a nine game span Carter averaged 28 points a game last season for the Rim Rockers. He was also a Player of the Week winner, May 12-May 18. During that week Carter played five games and had the following point totals: 28, 36, 32, 34, and 39. Carter also led the Rim Rockers to both of their wins on the season.
"This is a great honor for the USBL and Maurice. Maurice is an unbelievably talented player and he belongs in the NBA. We wish him continued success and hope his stay in the NBA is a long and fruitful one," stated USBL Founder and Commissioner Daniel T. Meisenheimer III.
