
Mathieu Cataford Wins the Michel-Brière Trophy

Boucherville, QC - The QMJHL is proud to announce that Mathieu Cataford of the Halifax Mooseheads wins the Michel-Brière Trophy as the league's most valuable player (MVP).
In his third season in Halifax, Cataford finished third in the QMJHL scoring race with 90 points (40 goals, 50 assists) in 65 games, with a +43 rating. He registered 12 goals (9th) and 11 assists on the power play, while firing 238 shots on goal (7th) and maintaining an excellent 58.1% efficiency in the face-off circle. Cataford was able to make up for the long-term absence of Jordan Dumais and helped the Mooseheads finish second in the Eastern Conference.

Justin Gill, Baie-Comeau Drakkar
In his fifth and final QMJHL season, Gill finished second in scoring with 98 points (40G-58A) in 65 games. He had the best differential in the league at +57 while his seven game-winning goals ranked sixth and his 233 shots ranked eighth. He collected 11 goals and 14 assists on the power play and was the offensive catalyst for the Drakkar, regular season champions with a team record 109 points.
Antonin Verreault, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies
The QMJHL scoring champion (Jean-Béliveau Trophy) with 107 points in 68 games, Verreault also led the league in assists (71) and power-play helpers (27). Along with a +43 differential, he racked up eight game-winning goals, good for third place in the League. Led by their fourth-year forward, the Huskies finished second in the Western Conference.
