Mateen Cleaves is 16th Gatorade Callup of season

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 29 â The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed Huntsville Flight guard Mateen Cleaves to a 10-day contract, making him the 16th NBDL-to-NBA "Gatorade Callup" this season.
Sixteen (16) Gatorade callups is the most that the NBDL has had since beginning competition in November of 2001. The league registered eight callups in the first season and 14 last year. In less than three full seasons, 27 NBDL players have received 38 "Gatorade Callups" to play for NBA teams.
Cleaves played in 40 games (25 starts) for Huntsville, averaging 29.7 minutes, 14.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists. A first round selection (14th overall) by the Detroit Pistons in the 2000 NBA Draft, Cleaves has NBA experience with the Pistons and Sacramento Kings. He was in vet camp this season with the Boston Celtics.
