EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (1-2-4) host fellow Western conference side New Mexico United (2-3-1) on Friday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. CST in H-E-B Park.
RGV FC: The Toros promised changes defensively and they delivered this past week of action. The script was flipped as RGV FC found themselves back in control of possession for the majority of the match at Cardinale Stadium as they limited Monterey Bay Union FC offensively and earned the clean sheet, despite finishing the dual in a scoreless draw.
A new wind was found in terms of ball movement and distribution success, the Toros gave glimpses of dominance that were seen in the late stages of the 2022 campaign where the club frustrated sides into playing out of form and rushed passing as lanes quickly closed.
If RGV FC can build off this momentum and create a similar situation on the field on Friday evening in front of an energetic home crowd, it may be a long night for New Mexico who last suffered a 3-1 defeat at H-E-B Park in 2022, their last visit.
The crowd will be celebrating "Toros, Tacos, Tequila" night along with some good soccer as the hispanic rich community observes the Cinco de Mayo holiday at H-E-B Park, hoping for a first home win of the year to "cheers" to.
