Match Preview: Fury FC Looking for a Fourth Consecutive Preseason
February 25, 2017 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA, ON - It has been a fruitful third week of training camp for Ottawa Fury FC who will wrap up their week-long stay at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida on Saturday afternoon with their final test of this camp coming against FC Cincinnati. Having already recorded preseason wins against the Ottawa Internationals (7-0), Saint Louis FC (2-1) and OKC Energy (2-1), Fury FC will look to continue their winning ways against Cincinnati.
In their three preseason fixtures to date Ottawa has got it done at both ends of the pitch with 11 goals for while surrendering just two. While Saturday's contest will mark Ottawa's third game in a five-day stretch and their fourth in nine days, the squad is hungry for another win.
Saturday will mark Cincinnati's third preseason game and they will be looking for their first win, as Alan Koch's side lost its first two matches by identical 3-2 scores to OKC Energy last Sunday and most recently to the Chicago Fire on Wednesday.
Ottawa could be facing a familiar face during Saturday's game, as former Fury FC forward Andrew Wiedeman begins his second season with FC Cincinnati helping them earn a third place finish in the Eastern Conference last season contributing seven goals to the cause.
Following Saturday's match, Fury FC will have a day off on Sunday, before flying back to Ottawa early Monday morning and resuming their daily training sessions at RA Centre Tuesday afternoon. Ottawa's next preseason match is scheduled for Friday, March 3 when they visit Toronto FC II at KIA Field in Toronto in a preview of their home opener against TFC II in April.

What are they saying?
GM and Head Coach, Paul Dalglish:
"It's going be a tough game, they are a good team. They're a team that quickly became one of the powerhouses of the league. It's a good test for us, it gives us a chance to put a marker down and prove again that we're a force to be reckoned in this league. We've beat two USL teams so far and we want to make it three tomorrow."
Goalkeeper, Callum Irving (Will play 30 minutes Saturday):
"It's a big game for us. We get to see the standard that we will be up against this season. Obviously, we're both in preseason mode, we're both fixing things and still learning. I think it will be a good opportunity for both teams to learn a little bit about each other as well as themselves."
Goalkeeper, Andrew MacRae (Will play 60 minutes Saturday):
"It's really important for us to finish the week on a strong note and keep building on what we've been doing. We've been watching videos, analyzing our games and we know what areas to improve on and where to keep going. So far the week has been great. It gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better and we've got two good results so far."
Players to watch
Gerardo Bruna
He scored four goals in three preseason games. He has been one of the most threatening players in Ottawa's attack with his offensive creativity and his incredible vision. The Argentine midfielder is looking to bounce back after a frustrating 2016 season where he played only a handful of games due to an injury.
Sergio Manesio
He was an absolute rock for Ottawa in Thursday's game. He tackled, he intercepted the ball, he ran - a lot - and even if an OKC Energy FC player stepped on his hand he finished the game and played a full 90-minutes.
Lance Rozeboom
After being ejected from Thursday's game with a red card (via Video Assisted Review), the captain saw his game end with only 28 minutes played. Rozeboom is expected to play 90 minutes Saturday and rest assured Fury FC fans, your captain will be ready to lead his team against Cincinnati.
Ottawa Fury FC open the USL season April 1 in Saint Louis with their All-Canadian home opener set for April 22 against Toronto FC II. Season tickets are available at OttawaFuryFC.com, by calling 613.232.6767 X1 or in person at The Box Office at TD Place.
