Forward Madison welcomes SC Paderborn 07 (SCP07) to Breese Stevens Field for an international friendly taking place on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022. The match will kick off at 7:00 pm CT and the theme of the match is a HuettenGaudi (Party in the Mountain Hut)!

Forward Madison enters Wednesday's match following a monumental 3-2 win over Greenville Triumph SC. Mingo of the Match honors were awarded to Matheus Cassini for his stellar effort all over the field, scoring two goals, including the game-winning goal. Looking ahead on the schedule, Forward Madison will travel to Georgia to take on South Georgia Tormenta FC on Sunday, June 19th. After battling Tormenta, the Flamingos will host a match against the Richmond Kickers on June 23rd.

SC Paderborn 07, who currently play in the 2 Bundesliga, finished 7th out of 18th in the 2021/22 season. Their club will travel to the US for a pair of international friendlies. SCP07's first friendly was played against Minnesota United FC on June 11th and they lost 4-3. Next up, after playing FMFC, SC Paderborn 07 will start their 2022/23 season on July 8th against VfL Bochum.

Key Players to Watch:

Forward Madison

Cesar Murillo Jr.: The 26-year-old has been a force on the defensive side of the ball all season. Murillo ranks fourth on Forward Madison in clearances (13) and blocks (2), while he has also contributed five interceptions and five tackles. Expect the Texas-born defender to play a key role in shutting down SC Paderborn 07's attack on Wednesday.

Alann Torres: Although Alann Torres hasn't seen much action recently, the midfielder has been one of the most accurate passers on the club, possessing a passing accuracy of 84%. The 18-year-old has been especially efficient passing in FMFC's own half, as he holds a PAO (passing accuracy in own half) of 100%. Expect Torres to continue to be competent passing the ball against SCP07.

Christian Enriquez: The San Diego, California native has been effective this season when on the field. The 23-year-old currently holds the top passing accuracy percentage on Forward Madison (88.2%) and he's one of five FMFC players to score this year. Enriquez should continue to wreak havoc all across the field in this international friendly.

Keys to the Match:

Defensive Focus: SC Paderborn 07 finished their 2021-22 season with the 6th most goals in the league. They also scored more goals on average on the road compared to at home (1.76 to 1.53). Forward Madison will need to be able to slow down the SCP07 attack if they want to succeed. Coach Matt Glaeser will surely put a focus on defense heading into this match.

Continue to Be Aggressive on Counterattacks: In the last few matches Forward Madison's attack has grown to be effective through counterattacks. Players like Matheus Cassini and Mikey Maldonado have been aggressive in helping to push the attack. Expect for the Flamingos to continue to find offensive production through being aggressive on counterattacks.
