PHOENIX, Arizona - Rio Grande Valley FC (8-11-6, 30 pts) locks in for mid-week matchup with Phoenix Rising (8-12-5, 29 pts) at Wild Horse Pass Stadium on Wednesday, August 31 as they close out their August schedule. The action will be live nationally on ESPN+ starting at 9:30 pm CST. This is the first meeting between the sides in the current campaign.

Rio Grande turned some heads in their 5-0 blowout performance at Las Vegas as they claimed their largest victory margin of the year and tied a franchise record of goals scored (5) in a single match, which dated back to 2019.
The score line saw the continued success of the pieces added late in the season by Sporting Director Wilmer Cabrera as the two forward newcomers, Christian Pinzon (1) and Jonas Fjeldberg (2) combined for three goals behind the efforts of teammates Ricky Ruiz and Jose Torres who dished out two assists a piece. Torres sits at four assists on the year in just thirteen matches just behind Isidro Martinez who remains as the assist and key pass leader for the Toros with six (6) assists and 39 key passes. The veteran midfielder has added solid stability in the middle of the field and shares the role of field general with fellow veteran midfielder Juan Cabezas, the duo are a vital piece to the quick paced tempo that RGV employs.
If more of the same can be repeated in this matchup in Arizona, the Toros will return to Edinburg behind a solid performance as their fans anxiously await the return of soccer to H-E-B Park since their month long leave dating back to July 27.
