Florida Tropics SC News Release

LAKELAND, Fla. - The leading scorer in last spring's Major Arena Soccer League playoffs is returning to the Florida Tropics on a new two-year deal.

Zach Reget, who had 16 points in the post-season, will start his fourth season with the Tropics when they begin their seventh season in the MASL in late fall.

Reget, the 2018-19 MASL Rookie of the Year with the St. Louis Ambush, was traded to the Tropics after his inaugural year in the league. He signed a one-year deal with Florida prior to the 2021-22 season which was his best ever. Per league and team policy, no further contract details will be released.

In 84 career regular season and playoff games, Reget has 83 goals and 49 assists in establishing himself as one of the league's elite target forwards. In seven post-season games this past season, he had 16 points to top all scorers in the league, including seven assists which was best in the MASL post-season, and nine goals, which tied for first among all scorers.

"Zach is a pivotal part of how we play. Our target play is part of our style, so to have Zach back with us for multiple years is fantastic because of his presence. And the leadership he displayed last year became huge. When you've got a player that's encouraging and pushing the team vocally and then matching it with his play, that's how you get an armband put on,' Coach Clay Roberts said. "Last year was a breakout year for him. He showed extreme confidence, I think Zach's grown a lot the last two years."

He established career regular season bests in 2021-22 in goals (27), assists (16) and total points (43.). He was the team's second leading overall scorer in the regular season, and led Florida to the MASL championship finals where they fell two games to none against the San Diego Sockers.

"We have unfinished business. We have gotten closer and closer every year and this is something I need to see through to the end," Reget noted. "I plan to continue leading by example and playing with a high passion. Glory to God. I would love to expand my role and intend to keep improving the small details and tweaks in my game. I am as motivated as ever, and would love to get this organization its first indoor championship."

Reget is a native of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He played collegiate soccer at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois, where he was a four year starter, NCCAA All- American, four time CCAC All- Region Team, two time CCAC first team selection, NCCAA All- Midwest Region first team, team captain, four time Offensive Player of the Year, three-time Trinity MVP and third on the list of all-time goal scorers.

He was selected to the U.S Men's Futsal National team for their 2021 FIFA World Cup appearance, and has been invited to try out again this summer for the U.S. Soccer national side.

The Tropics, who have won three consecutive Eastern division or conference championships, will open their seventh season of MASL play at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland in late fall.
