MASL Names Week 5 Players of the Week

The Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) announced today the winners of the Week 5 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards. Ricardo Carvalho of the Florida Tropics, offense and Juan Gamboa of the Dallas Sidekicks, defense earned the honors.
Carvalho had four goals in the Tropics game against Utica City FC on Sunday, January 2. Florida went on to win the game 10-3 and leads the Eastern Division with 12 points. Florida plays a rematch game with Utica City FC on Sunday, January 9.
Juan Gamboa earned the defensive award for his three wins, including two road games in Milwaukee and St. Louis. Gamboa stopped 41 shots during the week. He is now tied for the second most wins by a goalkeeper with Florida's Hugo Silva. Dallas on a three-game win streak takes on the undefeated visiting Kansas City Comets on Saturday, January 8.
