Florida Tropics SC News Release
LAKELAND, Fla. - The Eastern Division leading Florida Tropics will have a short turn around after Wednesday's wild 10-9 win on the road in Utica when they host the western division Chihuahua Savage Friday night at the RP Funding Center.
Kickoff is at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on MASL TV on Twitch.
The Tropics come in at 4-0-1 after their latest road win. The game was tied seven times, and was fully in doubt until Zach Reget blasted home a rebound from about 40 feet out with just 90 seconds left to play, his second game winning goal in five games.
Drew Ruggles continues to be the Tropics leading scorer with eight goals and four assists.
Ironically, captain Victor Parreiras didn't have a single point in the Utica win, but remains second on the team in total points with 10 (four goals, six assists).
Enrique Canez is the Savage's leading scorer with five goals in two games. He has through the years played for all three of the Mexican based teams to play in the MASL, and in 122 regular season games has scored 136 goals.
Chihuahua will be playing only their third game of the season, and are 1-0-1.
The Tropics set atop the east with 13 points, three points ahead of Kansas City, but the Comets have already played two more games than Florida. After a quick road trip to Ontario, California for a game Jan. 3 against the Empire Strykers, the team is back home for a weekend doubleheader Jan. 6 and 8 against the Harrisburg Heat.
Tickets for all home games are available starting at just $7 per game by calling the arena box office at 863-834-8111. Although tickets are also available online at www.rpfundingcenter.com, service fees are significantly higher through Ticketmaster as opposed to calling the box office directly. Tickets are also available on game day at the box office.
