Marvin Phillips Named to NBLC 10th Anniversary All-Time Team

(Toronto, ON) - He was known as one of the league's most intimidating rebounders, a fan favourite force on both ends of the court - and now he is cleaning the glass alongside the greats.
Today, the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC) named Marvin Phillips to the 10th Anniversary All-Time Team, comprised of the 10 greatest players in league history. Further players will be announced on the league homepage (nblcanada.ca) and social media channels through from April 14.
"On the court, this guy was instant impact - a powerful presence, a strong, skilled player who could do so much on the court," said Audley Stephenson, NBLC Vice-president of Basketball Operations. "Off the court, however, he was so inviting to fans, a favourite wherever he went, wherever he played. The way he engaged with fans was incredible. People loved him."
Playing for the London Lightning (2012-19) and KW Titans (2019-20), Phillips was "a rebounding machine" who constantly ranked among the league's Top 10 and now sits No. 3 on the NBLC career rebounding list with 1,317. The 6-foot-7-inch power forward won a championship with The Bolts in 2013 when he was named both NBLC Playoff MVP and Newcomer of the Year.
The NBLC 10th Anniversary All-Time Team was selected by a 13-person committee of former league personnel, coaches, and front office staff. Voters selected players based on numerous factors, including impact on league, on-court play, longevity, representative of league values on and off the court, influence, and community involvement.
The NBLC 10th Anniversary All-Time Team includes, so far, in numerical order:
- No. 10. Garrett Williamson, London Lighting (2013-2020)
- No. 9. Marvin Phillips, London Lightning (2012-19), KW Titans (2019-20)
- No. 8. To be announced April 7
- No. 7. To be announced April 8
- No. 6. To be announced April 9
- No. 5. To be announced April 10
- No. 4. To be announced April 11
- No. 3. To be announced April 12
- No. 2. To be announced April 13
- No. 1. To be announced April 14
On April 15, NBLC-TV will air a documentary dedicated to its 10th Anniversary All-Time Team during a special episode of NBLC This Week, hosted by Aaron Sanders and Karis Mapp.
