Marshals Name Jeff Hulett Assistant Coach

The Texas Marshals of the Texas Collegiate League have announced that Jeff Hulett has been named the team's new assistant baseball coach for the 2014 summer season. Hulett, who is currently an assistant coach at Bossier Parish Community College in Louisiana, will coach alongside Marshals' new head coach Brent Lavallee this summer.

"We are thrilled to have Jeff join our staff for the summer," commented Marshal's General Manager Kenderick Moore. "Coach Hulett has a great deal of playing and coaching experience in college and professional baseball. Our players will benefit greatly from the opportunity to learn from him."

Hulett is currently in his second year as an assistant coach at Bossier Parish which plays in Region XIV of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Hulett started his collegiate playing career at Texas A&M University in 2007 and was a member of the Aggies Big 12 Championship Team. After his freshman year at Texas A&M, Hulett transferred to Okaloosa-Walton College (now known as Northwest Florida State College) where he was a named a Pre-Season All-American.

After a stellar sophomore season, Hulett was drafted in the 12th round of the 2008 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft by the Houston Astros. Hulett played two seasons in the Astros minor league system and an infielder before signing with the Chicago White Sox and transitioning to catcher.

Hulett then spent three years in independent professional baseball from 2010-2012 playing in the American Association and the Frontier League for the Shreveport Captains, the El Paso Diablos, the Kansas City T-Bones, and the Evansville Otters.

After retiring from professional baseball, Hulett joined the coaching staff at Evangel Christian Academy where he attended high school. Since joining the staff, ECA has won three state titles.

Jeff's father, Tim Hulett, played 12 years of professional baseball for the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and St. Louis Cardinals. Jeff's brothers, Tug and Joe, each played professionally as well. Tug spent two years in the big leagues with the Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals.

Hulett and Lavallee will make their Texas Collegiate League coaching debuts on Thursday, May 29th as the Marshals take on the East Texas Pump Jacks at 7:00pm at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas.
