Marshals beat Cutters

Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release

Since the beginning of the Texas Collegiate League's second half of play, the Cane Cutters have been among the hottest summer ball teams in the country. Acadiana entered tonight's game in McKinney against the Texas Marshals pinned to a 4-game lead over the nationally ranked Brazos Valley Bombers.

The Texas Marshals wasted little time on Thursday night, scoring one run in the first three consecutive innings to jump to an early lead. Acadiana was able to get one run closer in the fifth by virtue of a Kyle Cedotal sacrifice fly that brought home Logan Taylor to bring the score from 3-0 to 3-1. Texas went on to answer in the bottom of the frame with a tally and again after the Cutters' Chance Vincent drove in a run in the seventh. Acadiana threatened in the ninth, putting up a run to narrow the gap to just one, but could not work a fifth consecutive win. The Texas Marshals would end up holding on by a thread to win the contest, 5-4.

The Cane Cutters will finish up with the Marshals tomorrow night before returning to Acadiana for the stretch run. On Saturday, July 27, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center is hosting Acadiana Superheroes Night where all area emergency responders are invited to Fabacher Field for FREE.
