Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today that defenseman Mark Borowiecki (BOHR-Vee-YHET-Skee) has been signed to an amateur try-out contract. He is expected to be in the B-Sens line-up tonight in game three of the Atlantic Division Semifinals with the Manchester Monarchs.
Borowiecki, 21, was Ottawa's fifth-round pick (139th overall) in the 2008 National Hockey League Entry Draft. An Ottawa native, Borowiecki recently completed his third season at Clarkson University, which ended when the Golden Knights were defeated in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference's playoffs by Harvard.
Borowiecki played in 31 games this season, tying for the team lead in scoring among defensemen with 11 points on three goals and eight assists, while posting a career-high 67 penalty minutes. He served as Clarkson's team captain this past season. In three years with the Golden Knights he scored 12 goals, 20 assists and recorded 146 penalty minutes in 99 games.
Borowiecki joined the B-Sens on March 11 after signing a two year entry-level contract with Ottawa. He appeared in nine games for Binghamton, ending the regular season a minus-two and adding six penalty minutes.
