Mariners Open with Exhibition Loss
June 17, 2012 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Pulaski Mariners News Release
The Mariners opened their season hosting an exhibition game against the Mooresville All Americans, falling in a close one 7 to 9. LHP Wander Marte had a rough start for the Mariners, only getting through 2/3 innings striking out 2 but allowing 4. Leadoff man James Zamarripa had himself a day going 3 for 3 with a walk, two singles, and a triple. Another notable performance came from RHP Lars Huijer, who came in for relief striking out the side in the last inning. Pulaski posted 7 runs on 13 hits to Mooresville's 9 runs on only 7 hits. Walks were the achilles heel for the Mariners today but hopefully this will change before the home opener on Tuesday the 19th where they will play host to Burlington 7p.m. at Calfee Park.
