
Mariners Drop Series to Twins, 9-2

The Elizabethton Twins got the better of the Pulaski Mariners in the final game of the series (9-2). Pulaski starter Taylor Byrd (ERA 4.54) surrendered six runs on seven hits in just over one inning.
The Twins hung three on the board in both the first and second innings giving them an early 6-0 lead over Pulaski. The Mariners' two runs came in the third inning off of a home run by Arby Fields that brought home both himself and Tom Verdi.
The Twins plated two more runs in the sixth inning against Pulaski reliever Rigoberto Garcia (ERA 13.75). Garcia battled for 5.1 innings allowing three runs, one earned, and struck out five.
Ugueth Urbina (ERA 6.12) finished out the game for Pulaski pitching the remaining two innings holding the Twins to only one hit and no runs.
The Mariners will face the Burlington Royals tomorrow night at Historic Calfee Park for the final series of the regular season. First Pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
