Kansas City Command News Release
KANSAS CITY, MO - The Kansas City Command continue to shuffle the wide receiver roster in an effort to boost the offensive production. The Command have been assigned wide receiver Marcus Allen who was also with the Command in October 2011 as a rookie free agent.
"We're looking for a guy that can possibly help us on the net and we continue to look to spark our offense," said Command coach Danton Barto. "Obviously he has to relearn the playbook and he still has a bit of catching up to do, but we're hoping he can have an impact on the team,"
Allen (5-11, 195lbs., New Mexico State) was a standout wide receiver for Modesto Junior College with two record-breaking seasons. In 2008, Allen led his team in receptions with 58 for 1,131 yards and 12 touchdowns. He averaged 19.5 yards a catch and 113.1 yards receiving per game. He was named a first team all-region selection in 2008. Allen helped the Pirates win two consecutive Golden Gate Conference titles. In the 2008 Graffiti Bowl, Allen caught 8 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-6 victory-a game in which he was named Offensive MVP. Allen transferred to New Mexico State University for the 2009 season, where he had a solid first year with the Aggies, catching 26 passes for 308 yards and two touchdowns. Then as a senior, he led the squad with 42 catches for 598 yards and two scores.
The Command are on the road to play at Iowa this Saturday, May 12th at 7:00pm CDT. Watch the game on UStream or listen on Sports Radio 810 WHB.
