Manchester Returns to Singapore

March 3, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Saint John Riptide News Release

The Manchester Millrats are traveling to Singapore for the second time this season to take on the very strong, highly-ranked Beijing Aoshen Olympian next weekend as they wrap up the regular season.

"We are very excited about this trip. Because of travel complications, we did not have a full team there before. Not really an excuse. But we think we are better than what we showed," said Millrats GM Ian McCarthy. "And we would like to show the fans of Singapore what the Manchester Millrats can do with all of our players there."

The Beijing Aoshen Olympian have had a tremendous season and are currently ranked #3 in the ABA Power Rankings, having lost only two games thus far - to the Quebec Kebekwa and an overtime loss this past weekend to the Texas Tycoons. The Olympian have two members of the Chinese National Team that will compete in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing in August as well as one of the ABA best players, Jamal Staten.

Manchester moved ahead of Beijing today in the newest Power Rankings, to #2. The Millrats are currently on an eight game win streak. The games between the #2 and #3 teams in the ABA should be very exciting and an example of the ABA at its best.
