San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, CA - The SaberCats are proud to announce Managing Member David Fry was named the 2011 Arena Football Executive of the Year, the League Office announced today.

"It's a great honor to be named Executive of the Year," said Fry. "We accomplished a great deal in 2011 and our staff was tremendous in providing our fan base with a great game day experience and I look forward to bigger and better things in 2012."

The SaberCats have been regarded as one of the AFL's model franchises under the Fry family's guidance. David Fry has played an integral role in rebuilding the SaberCats brand and defining San Jose's unique game day experience in the franchise's successful return to the AFL in 2011.

"Dave has been heavily involved with this franchise from day one," said Owner/Head Coach Darren Arbet. "He has a passion for Arena Football and we are excited to see he is being honored for his efforts."

The squad's opening game against Spokane attracted more than 10,000 fans and the team's attendance hovered around that figure all season. In the team's first year back in Arena Football, San Jose ranked among the league's best in overall sales and attendance.

Fry has been an influential voice in the Arena Football League and continues to play an important role in helping it grow. He also currently serves on the league's finance and strategic planning committee.
