DENVER â The Colorado Mammoth has signed former No. 1 draft pick Mark Miyashita, team general manager Steve Govett announced today. Miyashita was widely considered to be the National Lacrosse League's best available free agent this off-season.
The Vancouver Ravens made Miyashita the first selection in the 2003 NLL entry draft. The defenseman scored 23 points on seven goals and 16 assists in 12 games with the Ravens in 2004 â his rookie season â before becoming a free agent last month.
"Mark is a tenacious defender and great competitor," Govett said. "He is a complete player and his energy and intensity will serve our team well."
Miyashita, 23, is 6-feet-1 and 205 pounds. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, and starred at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y.
