Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER - Following months of player evaluation and three weeks of training camp, the Colorado Mammoth announced today that the team's 23-man roster for the 2013 National Lacrosse League season has been named. Headlined by reigning NLL MVP John Grant Jr., 2012 NLL Rookie of the Year Adam Jones, and captain Gavin Prout, the Mammoth roster features 17 returners from a season ago.

"Our team was solid last year, and we think the new faces give us a great chance to be even better in 2013," said Mammoth head coach Bob Hamley.

Key off-season acquisitions include first-round draft pick Colton Clark, a right-handed forward, and 6'8" left-handed transition player Richard Morgan. The team also added veterans Matt Roik (goalie) and Chet Koneczny (defenseman), and rookie transition player Jaeden Gastaldo. Forward Joel Dalgarno, who registered 12 goals and 10 assists in seven games in 2011, missed last season due to commitments as a firefighter.

After a Dalgarno goal on a feed from second-year forward Jamie Lincoln at training camp on Saturday, Grant proclaimed, "All the pieces are in place!"

Offensively, there's little question. The Mammoth led the NLL in scoring in 2012, and also boasted the league's top power play. Now, the team adds Clark and Dalgarno to the mix.

Right-handed forward Jordan McBride, a second-round selection in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft, is poised for a break-out season. He led the team in scoring in both preseason games, netting a hat trick in the first game and four goals in the second.

Six defensemen, including West Division All-Star starter Rory Smith, are joined by Koneczny. Levis, who represented the division as a starter in the NLL All-Star Game in 2012, is back between the pipes.

Defenseman Jarett Park and goaltender Tye Belanger begin the season on the Injured Reserve and Physically Unable to Perform lists, respectively. University of Denver alumnus Alex Demopoulos, a 2012 sixth-round draft pick, has been assigned to the Mammoth's practice squad.

Colorado revamped its roster in the last two drafts, with ten combined picks. Nine of the 10 players selected are expected to contribute this season.

The Mammoth, which finished the 2012 regular season with the second-best record (11-5) in the NLL, opens the 2013 campaign on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center against the Washington Stealth on Saturday, January 12 at 7pm MT. Single-game tickets start at just $10 apiece. They are now available for purchase at all TicketHorse outlets, the Pepsi Center Box Office, online at TicketHorse.com or by phone at 303.53.HORSE.
