Colorado Mammoth News Release

San Jose, Calif. - The Colorado Mammoth split its first road trip of the season, falling 13-12 to the San Jose Stealth at HP Pavilion Saturday night, after beating the Arizona Sting 12-11 in Phoenix on Friday.

The Mammoth (2-1) was beaten at the buzzer by the Stealth (1-1) when Mike Regan scored on a power play chance as time ran out. Jay Jalbert's five-minute penalty with more than two minutes left in the game set up the Stealth power play.

"This was a tough one, but it's good to know that even if we don't win them all, we can win on the road as well as at home," said Steve Govett, Colorado Mammoth general manager.

Del Halladay started the scoring on a power play goal with assists from John Wilson and Gary Gait. Gary Rosyski and Josh Sanderson scored consecutive goals for the Stealth. Another Mammoth power play goal from Wilson, with assists from Gavin Prout and Halladay, ended the quarter.

Regan's first goal of the game shot past Mammoth goalie Gee Nash to begin the second quarter, answered by a goal from Brian Langtry, assisted by Halladay.

The Stealth tallied consecutive goals from Chris White and Brian Beisel, before Langtry scored again, this time on an assist from Nash. Prout fed a shot to Jay Jalbert for a Mammoth goal to end the half.

A pair of goals from Gary Gait put the Mammoth up to start the third quarter. Ben Prepchuk and Scott Stapleford scored their first goals of the night, with a final goal from Halladay finishing the quarter. Nick Carlson added two assists with Langtry, Wilson and Prout each adding an assist during the quarter.

Scoring for San Jose in the third quarter were Matt Ogelsby, Sanderson and Regan.

Carlson and Jalbert both scored for the Mammoth before a rally and power play chances brought the Stealth to its first victory of the season and its first in San Jose. Two more goals from Sanderson, and another pair from Regan - including the game-winner - ended the game.

Saturday's game marked the home opener for the Stealth - which played in New York as the Albany Attack last season. The Mammoth beat the Stealth at Pepsi Center last weekend 17-8.

The Mammoth next will meet the Vancouver Ravens on the road January 18.
