Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (August 17, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League announced today that they have signed right wing Zach Pearson. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced.

Pearson, 26, scored 19 goals and totaled 48 points in 76 International Hockey League games with the Bloomington PrairieThunder last season. The White Lake, Michigan, native scored three goals and picked up four assists in 13 games against the Mallards last year.

"Zach is looking to have a break out season, and he wants it to happen in the Quad Cities," said Mallards Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Frank Anzalone. "His commitment to improving his conditioning and playing at 110% every night could afford him a break out year in the CHL. We expect big things offensively from Zach on our right side."

The upcoming campaign will be Pearson's fourth professional season. In 2007-08 he split his rookie year between the IHL's Muskegon Fury and the CHL's Mississippi RiverKings. The following season saw him skate for both the ECHL's Elmira Jackals and in the IHL with the Flint Generals. The 5' 10", 185-pound Pearson has scored 41 times and recorded 104 points in 186 career games.

Pearson turned pro after completing his collegiate career at Ferris State in the spring of 2007. In all Pearson notched 24 goals and 81 points in 148 games over four years as a Bulldog. He also played one season in the junior ranks- 2002-03- with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United States Hockey League. Mallards defenseman Shane Lovdahl was among Pearson's Cedar Rapids teammates.

Pearson joins Obi Aduba, Nick DeCroo, Jason Dolgy, Mark Ehl, Tyler Kindle, Jason Kostadine, Patrik Levesque, Shane Lovdahl, Brandon Marino, Darren McMillan, Omar Pacha and Ryan Palmer to bring the number of players on the Mallards' preseason roster to 13.

The Mallards will open their first CHL season on home ice on Saturday night, October 16, at 7:05 p.m. against the Odessa Jackalopes. Mallards 2010-11 ticket packages are now available to meet any budget or schedule. For more information on ticket packages for the upcoming season, contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364. Single game seats will go on sale in the fall on a date to be announced.
