MOLINE, Ill. (July 25, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed defenseman Karl Linden. Per club policy, no contract terms were announced.

Linden, 25, completed a standout four-year career at Division III Elmira College in the spring. The Sundbyberg, Sweden, native was named to the 2010-11 All-ECAC West Second Team after scoring six goals and totaling 20 points in 26 games as a senior.

"Karl is a great skater and a heads-up defenseman," said Mallards Head Coach and General Manager David Bell. "He has a great attitude and has the drive necessary to become a pro."

The 6' 0", 180-pound Linden scored 19 goals and produced 79 points in 103 career collegiate games and helped the Soaring Eagles to NCAA tournament berths each of his first three years at Elmira. As a sophomore, Linden was named to both the Division III All-America East Second Team and the All-ECAC West First Team in 2008-09. His freshman season saw Linden earn ECAC All-Rookie honors.

Before arriving in Elmira, Linden spent one season- the 2006-07 campaign- with the Bradford Rattlers of Ontario's Greater Metropolitan Junior Hockey League.

Linden joins Obi Aduba, Jared Brown, Brad Fogal, Eric Giosa, Joel Gasper, Jason Kostadine, Brandon Marino and Darren McMillan to bring the number of signings announced by the Mallards for the 2011-12 season to nine.

Season tickets for the Flock's 2011-12 campaign are now on sale. Mallard season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. For more season ticket information, fans can contact the Mallards at (309) 277-1364 or tickets@myqcmallards.com.
