
Mallards Announce Selected 2011-12 Promotions and Theme Nights

MOLINE, Ill. (September 28, 2011) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced a selection of the Mallards' major promotion and theme nights for 2011-12. The Mallards this season will reach out to all quarters of the community for evenings dedicated to the military, youth sports participants, faith groups, boy scouts and girl scouts and more. Annual events including the Genesis Jersey Auction and an array of giveaway nights are also part of the Flock's packed promotional schedule.
Throughout the season- which kicks off with the Mallards' October 22 opener against the Rapid City Rush- the Flock will welcome groups from throughout the Quad Cities and beyond for a series of special theme nights, beginning with Veterans' Appreciation Night when the Flock meets the Dayton Gems on Friday night, November 4. Later in the season- on Saturday, February 18, when the Mallards encounter the Arizona Sundogs- the Flock will recognize active military personnel on Military Appreciation Night.
The boy scouts and girl scouts of the Quad Cities will converge on the i wireless Center for Scout Night when the Mallards take the ice against the Missouri Mavericks on Saturday, December 17. On Youth Sports Night- Saturday, January 14- the Mallards will welcome young athletes from throughout the Quad Cities- and their teams- when the Flock squares off against Dayton. Youth and church groups will have the chance to enjoy an evening of fun and fellowship when the Mallards host Faith Night during the Flock's Saturday, March 3 game against the Evansville IceMen.
The Mallards and Genesis Health System will team for a pair of Genesis Jersey Auctions this season. The first auction will follow the Mallards' December 9 "Pink in the Rink" game against Missouri and will benefit the Genesis Center for Breast Health. The Mallards will wear special pink jerseys during the "Pink in the Rink" contest. The Flock will also wear special edition jerseys on February 11 when it bids to tame the Sundogs. Those sweaters will go up for bid to benefit the Genesis Heart Insitute. Fans will have the chance to bid on the jerseys worn by the Mallards in both the December 9 and February 11 games immediately after the end of each of those tilts.
The Mallards' regular season finale- on Saturday night, March 24 against Bloomington- will be immediately followed by another game worn jersey auction.
On November 4, the Mallards will get into the spirit of the season just a little early when the Flock holds its annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit Quad City Arts via the Festival of Trees. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped stuffed animal to the game and toss it onto the ice after the Mallards' first goal. The teddy bears will then be collected and used to create the Mallards' tree at the Festival of Trees. Fans attending the November 4 contest who bring a stuffed animal to toss onto the ice after the first Mallard goal will in turn receive a stuffed animal to take home- a free Mo Mallard plush toy.
The plush toy giveaway is one of a host of giveaways Mallards fans will have the chance to take advantage of throughout the season, starting on opening night. All fans attending the October 22 curtain-raiser will receive free peel-and-re-stick 2011-12 Mallards schedules.
Fans who make their way to the i wireless Center for Veterans' Appreciation night on November 4 will receive United States mini-flags, while fans coming out for Military Appreciation night on February 18 will receive Mallards camouflage drink koozies.
The i wireless Center will be even noisier than usual on Friday, November 18 when fans attending the Mallards' match-up with the Bloomington Blaze receive free Mallards "quacker" noise makers and on Friday, December 9 when fans on hand for the Flock's game against Missouri will receive free Mallards cow bells.
On Friday December 23, Mo, the Mallards' mascot, will be in a giving mood when he provides fans attending the Flock's battle against the Wichita Thunder with Mo Mallard bobblehead dolls. On December 30, the Flock will help ready fans for the onset of winter by giving away Mallards stocking caps when the Gems visit the i wireless Center.
The new year will bring a new alternate jersey for the Mallards, who will debut that third jersey on the ice- and in the Mallards Pro Shop- when they take on Dayton on Friday, January 13. The following evening- Youth Sports Night- will see the Mallards give away replica youth jerseys to fans 12 and under attending the Mallards' rematch with the Gems.
The Mallards will hold a second jersey giveaway night on Saturday, February 4. Fans ages 13-and-over attending the Mallards' game against Bloomington will receive free adult replica jerseys.
The announcement of further 2011-12 promotional and theme nights will be made in the days to come. The promotional schedule is subject to change.
The 2011-12 Mallards will see their first game action when they, along with the Bloomington Blaze, Evansville IceMen and Missouri Mavericks take the ice at the i wireless Center for the Icebreaker Saturday, October 15 and Sunday, October 16. The Flock's October 22 regular season opener marks the start of the club's second CHL campaign. The Mallards' 2011-12 schedule features 33 home games, including 25 weekend dates. 2011-12 season tickets are now on sale- season ticket holders receive significant savings and a host of exclusive benefits. Single game tickets for the regular season are now on sale at the i wireless Center box office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The box office is weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days other than Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. On Sundays on which the Mallards play at home the ticket office will be open from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets will be available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level.
