
Major League Lacrosse Weekly Awards

BRIGHTON, Mass. - Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced Monday its weekly award winners for the week ending July 8, 2007, according to MLL Commissioner David Gross. Philadelphia Barrage midfielder Seth Goldberg has been honored as the League's Offensive Player of the Week while Denver Outlaws midfielder/face-off specialist Geoff Snider was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week.
In addition, Rochester Rattlers goalkeeper Mike Levin earned the MLL Goalkeeper of the Week award while San Francisco Dragons attackman Jake Byrne has been selected as the Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week.
Goldberg led the Barrage to a 14-9 victory over the San Francisco Dragons on Friday evening, helping the defending MLL champions remain in a tie for first place in the Eastern Conference with the Rochester Rattlers. He scored four goals with an assist as the Barrage won their fourth straight home game. Goldberg has scored 12 goals in five games since being acquired off waivers on June 5.
One of six Denver players to appear in Sunday's All-Star Game, Snider helped the Outlaws to their second straight victory over the Chicago Machine, a 22-14 decision on Wednesday night at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Snider won 25 of 38 face-offs and also had 17 ground balls in the victory. Snider, who has taken all but seven of Denver's face-offs, has a .576 face-off win percentage and ranks second in the MLL with 57 ground balls.
Levin earned the Goalkeeper of the Week award after making 14 saves in the Rattlers' fifth straight win, a 13-7 victory over the Long Island Lizards on Thursday night which helped Rochester remain in first place in the Eastern Conference. He allowed a season-best seven goals as the Rattlers won at Long Island for the first time in team history. During the Rattlers' five-game win streak, Levin has stopped 51.1 per cent of the shots he has faced while allowing 13.05 goals per game.
Byrne scored two goals with an assist in the Dragons' 14-9 loss at Philadelphia on Friday evening. Since being added to the Dragons' roster prior to the team's June 10 game against Chicago, he has scored seven goals, including a two-point tally, and added an assist. Of his seven goals, five of them have come in the last two games.
