
Major League Lacrosse Begins Eighth Season This Saturday

Boston, MA - Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, begins its eighth season this weekend, with all ten teams in action. The 2008 Major League Lacrosse season gets underway Saturday, May 17 with the Rochester Rattlers at Long Island Lizards at 7 PM ET, the New Jersey Pride at Boston Cannons at 7 PM ET, and the Los Angeles Riptide at Denver Outlaws at 7 PM MT.
On Sunday, the Washington Bayhawks and the Defending Champion Philadelphia Barrage play the first of Philadelphia's five neutral-site games at 2 PM ET at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The first week of play concludes with the San Francisco Dragons at Chicago Machine at 3:30 PM CT.
This season, Major League Lacrosse will offer fans an unprecedented amount of coverage. Once again, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD will air 11 MLL games this season, starting Friday May 23 when the Boston Cannons host the Rochester Rattlers at 7 PM ET.
For the first time ever, each of the League's ten teams will have local television coverage for all of their regular season games. Also new for 2008, every MLL game will be streamed live on ESPN360.com, ESPN's signature broadband network. All games will be archived and made available for on-demand replay for a period of time after they are completed.
Additional coverage will also be provided on LaxUnited.com. The new and improved Lax United site aims to provide a unique and comprehensive coverage of the sport through an assortment of quality video, commentary, and analysis. Video highlights from each MLL game will be made available on the Lax United site within 24 hours of their conclusion. The site will also feature an array of MLL footage, including player blogs, interviews, and webisodes from the all-new "Inside the MLL" show.
Later this month, Lax United will debut MLL Radio, a daily radio podcast hosted by Jason Chandler that will be made available for play online or for download. MLL Radio podcasts will feature interviews with a player, coach, GM or media member for each of the MLL's ten teams each week. Podcasts will also include weekly recap and preview discussions, as well as interviews with members of the national lacrosse media.
Finally, for the third straight season, Major League Lacrosse has once again partnered with Head2Head Sports to offer the MLL Fantasy Challenge. Each week, fans will have the opportunity to compete against each other for prizes from MLL sponsors.
The Warrior Major League Challenge and the Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft will occur between the second and third weeks of the regular season and will be held on Wednesday, May 28 at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. The Draft will air live on ESPNU at 8:30 PM ET.
Between Weeks Nine and Ten, Denver will host the 2008 All-Star Game at INVESCO Field at Mile High on Thursday, July 17. The game will air live on ESPN2 at 10 PM ET.
The MLL season concludes August 23 and 24 at Harvard Stadium in Boston with the 2008 NB ZIP MLL Championship Weekend. ESPN2 will air Saturday's first semi-final game live at 12 PM ET and Sunday's Championship Game live at 1PM ET. About Major League Lacrosse
