Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
After a two-game road trip this past weekend the MAINEiacs continue to cruise in 4th place of the Eastern division with 58 points in 50 games. After taking two points from 3rd place rival Cape Breton on Friday with a 3-1 win the MAINEiacs hopes of climbing towards the top of the division looked good. But on Saturday the MAINEiacs fell to 8th place Moncton 5-4. Currently the MAINEiacs are six points behind Cape Breton for 3rd place and five points ahead of St. John's who are in 5th.
This week the MAINEiacs come home for a pair of games, starting this Wednesday - January 30th as they face-off against the 10th place Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Telus division. Lewiston has played the Voltiguers once this season back on November 17th when the MAINEiacs won 3-1 in Drummondville. Peter Delmas backstopped the MAINEiacs with 29 saves and rookies Marc Bourgeois and Dominic Savoie led the attack each with a goal and an assist. The MAINEiacs second game of the week will be a match-up with Eastern division rival, the Saint John Sea Dogs. The Sea Dogs are currently at the top of the Eastern division with 66 points in 48 games. Lewiston is 2-3-0-0 overall against the Sea dogs this season and 1-1-0-0 at home. The MAINEiacs only win at home against Saint John goes all the way back to the first game of the season on September 13th as the MAINEiacs won 4-1 on the night of their Championship Banners raising ceremony. Back on October 24th the MAINEiacs lost 3-1 to the Sea Dogs in front of the home crowd.
