Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME - The Lewiston MAINEiacs looked like the team deserving of their position of 1st overall in a fast paced 4-2 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Having iced some less than stellar games lately, the MAINEiacs regained their winning ways in an exciting showing in front of big crowd at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée.

Despite outshooting the Voltigeurs 13-8, the MAINEiacs found themselves down 1-0 after the opening 20 minutes as Jonathan Duchesneau scored his 21st on the year on the powerplay. Triston Manson and Corey Garland dropped the gloves in a heavyweight battle that could be recorded as a draw.

In the second, Drummondville extended the lead as Drew Paris notched his 9th on the season. But then the MAINEiacs took over, as Marc-André Cliché scored a short-handed goal, his 16th on the year on a great individual effort in the slot. David Perron tied the game only 2 minutes later as he deflected a Marc-Andre Crete point shot.

In the third, David Taylor scored his 7th on the year on a great feed from Danick Paquette to give the MAINEiacs their first lead of the game. Only 3 minutes later, Eric Castonguay displayed his offensive prowess cutting the middle and firing a wrist shot over the blocker of the Pier-Oliver Pelletier.
