Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
Lewiston, ME - The Lewiston MAINEiacs earned an important two points as they defeated the Shawinigan Cataractes by a score of 5-1 in front of 2,808 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. The MAINEiacs stormed to take the lead with three quick goals in the first period. The line of forwards that includes Stefano Giliati, Stefan Chaput and Danick Paquette accounted for all three goals of the first period in that particular order.
The second period went scoreless and in the third Shawinigan's Tommy Gauthier broke the shutout bid of Jonathan Bernier with a power play goal. The MAINEiacs hit back with two more goals first by Danick Paquette and second by Eric Gelinas to make the final 5-1.
Stefano Giliati earned four points and he was awarded the first star tonight. This win puts the Lewiston MAINEiacs in a tie with Acadie-Bathurst for the fourth and final home playoff position in the Eastern Division.
