MAHL returns to action with games at Valley Forge and Mon Valley

December 26, 2007 - Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL) News Release


Wooster Warriors (7-7-1) @ Valley Forge Freedom (5-8-1) 7:15pm (Oaks Center Ice, Oaks, PA)

* Second meeting of the season. Wooster leads the season series 1-0.

* Valley Forge has won two in a row while Wooster won on Sunday defeating Jamestown.

* Valley Forge's Chris Holmes (MAHL Player of the Week) has been recalled to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL. Holmes has been leading the Freedom in scoring with 14g-15a-19pts. He becomes the thirteenth MAHL player to get the call to the "AA" leagues so far this season.

* Wooster's Don Patrick is fifth in league scoring with 7g-24a-31pts. Patrick is second in assists (24) and first in power play assists (13).

* The Warriors will be without forward Chris Ferguson who will be serving a one game suspension tonight.

* The Freedom's Joe Pelle is second in the MAHL in penalty minutes with 80. Pelle leads the league in major penalties with 12.

Indiana Ice Miners (15-1-0) @ Mon Valley Thunder (4-8-3) 7:30pm (Rostraver Ice Garden, Belle Vernon, PA)

* Third meeting of the year. Indiana leads the series 2-0.

* The Ice Miners have the top three scorers in the MAHL: Justin Depretis (27g-14a-41pts); Chris Ferazzoli (17g-22a-39pts); and Tom Boudreau (10g-28a-38pts).

* Mon Valley's Joey Olson is fourth in the MAHL (17g-20a-37pts).

* Depretis (27), Ferazzoli (17), and Olson (17) are also the top three goal scorers in the league.

* Indiana will be without defenseman Jason McCrimmon who will be serving the first game of a two-game suspension.

* The Ice Miners are on a ten game winning streak. The Thunder will be looking to end a three game winless streak.
