Madison Ceases Operations

January 28, 2010 - All American Hockey League (AAHL) News Release

Battle Creek, MI - The All American Hockey League, a Single A Professional Hockey League, sadly announces that Madison Ice Muskies have been forced to cease operations effective immediately. The Madison Ice Muskies were an originally a part of the merger with the Midwest Hockey League which never took to the ice. The Ice Muskies have been a hit on the ice and they were tied in for second place with the Battle Creek Revolution, but were a crash at the Box Office as attendance was low at all home games.

The Board of Governors were left with no choice but to vote the Ice Muskies franchise out of the All American Hockey League effective immediately because the ownership group just left the players and fans out in the cold. The League would like to say thank you to the loyal support of Head Coach of the Ice Muskies, Rod Davidson and his players, as they went months with out being paid by the ownership group who just disappeared after the first part of the season. The Ice Muskies took to the ice as a family under veteran leadership of Davidson who used his experience to keep the team together. The league was left no other option other than to take the franchise rights away from the current ownership group and force them to cease operations. The Ice Muskie players were put in a disposal draft on Thursday morning and the results will be released soon.

It is also announced that Joseph Kolodziej and Chip Rossetti have stepped down from the Board of Directors and the league ownership groups will now make up the Board of Directors. The league will be looking at adding a commissioner in the weeks to come. The All American Hockey League now has four sold ownership groups that will be working to rebuilding the league image and pave the way in the future for young hockey professionals to move on to the next level of hockey. The All American Hockey League has seen several players called up the ECHL, IHL, and CHL over the last year and look forward to pushing many more to the next level.

"It was a necessary measure that the Board of Directors to vote the Ice Muskies into ceasing operations for the sake of our image of our league to rebuild it," stated Rick Williams, Revolution Owner. "We will not condone any owner neglecting their responsibilities to the city, fans, and players by not paying their bills or walking out on their team."

The All American Hockey League will release a new four team schedule by the end business day Friday January 15th, along with the results of the disposal draft of the Ice Muskies players. The All American Hockey League will now have very strict application process in the future to ensure that a owner can hold the responsibilities to it's fans and city. The Ice Muskies now join the Chicago Blaze and Detroit Hitmen in the grave yard as the folded hockey clubs for the 2009-2010 season.
