Macon's Mayor Ellis To Support The Georgia Gwizzlies

October 16, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Georgia Gwizzlies News Release

Macon, GA. The ABA Georgia Gwizzlies open its season against the Orlando Aces at the Macon Centreplex and the organization hopes to suit up one of Middle Georgia's big guns - Mayor Ellis - the first African-American Mayor of the City of Macon. The mayor has committed to be at the Gwizzlies Training Camp/Media Day on November 8th. Mayor Ellis has a tremendous record when it comes to bringing in and supporting pro sports teams for the citizens of Macon and Middle Georgia. And in addition, word is that Martin Luther King III is scheduled to toss up the game ball on opening night. It should be a gala night for sure. Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
