Billings Bulls News Release
Buffalo, MN native Mike MacMillan has chosen to attend Division III St. Olaf's College in Northfield, MN for the 2004-2005 season. MacMillan, a 5'9", 170 lb forwad, could play one more year of junior hockey, but decided he wanted to move on. St. Olaf plays in the MIAC, against the likes of St. Mary's, St. John's and Augsburg College.
"Mike is one of our smartest players and he helped us out tremendously on the back line," says Head Coach Mike Aikens. "He has a tremendous knowledge for the game and I think St. Olafs is getting a quality individual as well."
MacMillan is a two-year veteran with the Bulls. He had 5 goals and 8 assists in 2002-2003 and this season, accounted for 4 goals and 8 assists while being asked all season to step back on the blue line due to injuries.
"We had a number of injuries this season and whoever was healthy would dress. Mike is one of those players that can play anywhere on the rink," says Aikens. "We had only 6 defenseman for a time and he was very good when called upon."
MacMillan will join John Stockler, Josh Print, Bryan Becker, Blake Turnquist and Matt Charbonneau on the college commitment list, giving the Bulls 6 players college-bound this season. There are a few players still waiting to make decisions and the Bulls will announce them promply.
