Bulls With Upcoming Four-games-in-six-days Test

November 7, 2005 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Billings Bulls News Release

The Billings Bulls have arguably been the streakiest team in the North American Hockey League during the first quarter of the 2005-2006 season. They opened the season with 3 straight losses but followed that up by winning their next 3 in a row to close their 6-game Alaskan road trip. The Bulls then took a step back by dropping 4 games in a row (twice in Fargo and then the opening 2 games of the 2005 NAHL Showcase). The Bulls rebounded in fine fashion though closing Showcase play with a pair of wins (5-2 over Alpena and 3-2 vs. Wichita Falls) and rolled that into a 3-game winning streak when they took their home opener 3-2 over the Helena Bighorns. But just as things seemed to be coming together for the 05/06 Bulls they came apart just as quickly. The Bulls are currently mired in a 4-game losing streak and were outscored this past week 17-1. But even in the midst of a losing streak and sitting 4 games below .500 the Bulls still have a chance to get even and get right toward the top of the Western Division as they face a stretch of very winnable games over the course of the next week and a half.

The Bulls resume play this Saturday in Helena against the Bighorns, a team with the worst winning percentage in the NAHL (.250) and a team the Bulls are already 1-1 against this season. The Bighorns are 9 games below .500 at 3-12-3 and currently are the tenants of the cellar in the Western Division with just 9 points through 18 games.

The Bulls will then begin a 3-game series with the Wasilla Spirit, who are presently 3rd in the Western Division. The Bulls are already 2-0-1 against the Spirit this season and have taken 5 out of a possible 6 points against Wasilla in their 3 previous meetings. The Spirit are 9-14 on the year with 18 points through 23 games. But even though the Bulls find themselves 5 points back of Wasilla in the standings, the Bulls have played 6 fewer games than the newest Alaska team.
