The Toronto Lynx wrapped up their ninth home season of professional soccer in Toronto tonight as they welcomed the Minnesota Thunder to Centennial Park Stadium for the Lynx Labour Day Celebration presented by the Canadian Auto Workers. The initial stages of the first half were confined to back and forth play in the middle third of the field as both teams felt one another out. The first chance fell to Toronto in the 24th minute. After a series of well executed passes involving Said Ali and Robbie Aristodemo, Jamie Dodds fired at goal from 10 yards out, but watched his effort hit the side netting.
Minnesota came close five minutes later. Godfrey Tenoff's run down the right side of the field ended with him alone with Lynx goalkeeper Theo Zagar. Zagar's charge from goal broke the play up and Toronto regained possesion.
Toronto was close again in the 34th minute when Aristodemo's bicycle kick was stopped by Minnesota 'keeper Nicolas Platter. Aristodemo then flicked the rebound towards goal while on his back, but Platter pushed it out.

The second half picked up quickly. Toronto pressed ahead looking for an equalizer, and came close in the 62nd minute. Joe Mattachione's free kick was sent into the box. Rick Titus rose to head the ball, but his effort came off the top of the bar.
Toronto were on level terms three minutes later. Sean Fraser's impressive run down the left side ended with him slipping the ball past Platter from close range.
Minnesota retook the lead in the 79th minute when second half substitute Aaron Paye picked up Dombrowski's pass and fired past Zagar into the top right of the goal from just inside the area.
Toronto pressed ahead looking for an equalizer, and came close in the 84th and 86th minutes, with Fraser and Eja-Tabe both just off the mark. It was 2-1 to Minnesota after 90 minutes.
