Match Summary:

The Toronto Lynx dropped a 3-0 result away to the Minnesota Thunder in front of 2802 fans at James Griffin Stadium in St. Paul Minnesota this evening.

Toronto entered the match full of confidence after a string of impressive results over their last nine games in which they managed to acquire a record of 5-2-2. Minnesota sat in last place entering tonight's match.

Minnesota out-shot Toronto 6-4 in the first half, but both sides did not manage to find the back of the net, and it was 0-0 at the break.

Minnesota took the lead in the 57th minute when Leo Gibson put Melvin Tarley's pass past Lynx goalkeeper Theo Zagar.

There were no goals until injury time when Ansu Tore put home Kiki Lara's pass, giving Minnesota a valuable second goal. Defender Dustin Brannan cancelled any hopes of a dramatic Toronto comeback with his solo effort, the Thunder's second goal in injury time. It was 3-0 to the home side at the final whistle.

Minnesota produced a highly offensive display this evening, out-shooting Toronto 19-6 through 90 minutes of play. Lynx ‘keeper Zagar made 7 stops in tonight's match, while his Minnesota counterpart Joe Warren was forced into only one.

Toronto's Kevin Jeffrey and Neto, named to the USL-1 team of the week last week, featured in tonight's match, with Jeffrey playing 74 minutes, and Neto coming on as a second half substitute in the 58th minute.

Tonight's loss drops Toronto to 12th place in the USL First Division with a record of 5-12-4.

Toronto is next in action of Friday August 18th when they travel to take on the Rochester Raging Rhino's at 8:00 PM.
