Montreal, QC - The latest QMJHL Player of the Week is Charlottetown Islanders defenseman Lukas Cormier. In three games, the 19-year-old from Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, New Brunswick scored four times and added four assists while the Islanders went a perfect 3-0-0-0 on the week.

On Wednesday night in Sydney, Cormier chipped in with a pair of assists, including a helper on the eventual game winning goal, in the Islanders 7-2 defeat of the Cape Breton Eagles. In addition to his contributions to the scoresheet, Cormier finished the contest with a +/- rating of +2.

On Saturday night at home, the fourth-year veteran potted the game-winner less than a minute into the second period. Cormier would find the back of the net again late in the third as the Isles defeated the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 7-1.

The Islanders' assistant captain would save his best for last on Sunday afternoon at home. Once again, he would find the back of the net twice, and again, he would account for the game-winner. Finally, he would add a pair of assists and a +3 rating in his squad's 7-5 win over the Val-d'Or Foreurs. For his efforts, Cormier was named the first star of the contest.

Last year's top scoring defenseman in the QMJHL, Cormier has shot into third place on the Islanders with 12 points in ten games this season. A third-round selection of the Vegas Golden Knights at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Cormier has now posted multiple points in four straight games.
