Loverde Returns to Reign Blue Line

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, 2011-12 Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced the return of defenseman Vincent LoVerde for the 2012-13 season.

"I'm really looking forward to seeing the returning players, getting back on the ice, and playing for the Ontario Reign fans. I'm really excited to get the season started," LoVerde said.

LoVerde, 23, made his professional debut with the Ontario Reign last season appearing in his first game on October 21, where he recorded his first professional point, an assist. LoVerde finished the 2011-12 regular season with 24 points (5g, 19a) and led the Reign with a +13 plus-minus rating. During Ontario's first round in the playoffs, he earned one point; an assist.

"Every year you want to improve personally and as a team we ended the year with a sour taste in our mouths and I think we're all going to come back excited and ready to have a great season. We all want to improve every year as a player and want to do better as a team," LoVerde said.

The 5-foot-11, 205-pound defenseman was a major component of the Reign's league-leading penalty kill unit which ended the season with an 87.5 percent success rate. During the regular season, LoVerde was one of the players selected by fans to represent the Ontario Reign as the team's 2012 Silver Skater.

Prior to playing professionally, the Chicago, Ill. native spent four years (2007-11) in the CCHA for Miami University (Ohio) and recorded 36 points (6g, 30a) in 159 games. While playing with Miami's Redskins he earned the title of Defensive Player of the Week for the week of February 28, 2011 and topped the league in fewest goals against.

As a junior in the USHL, LoVerde played 99 games for the Waterloo Black Hawks from 2005-07 earning 32 points (9g, 23a).

"As a team we go into every season wanting to win the Championship; that's something we all look to accomplish. We want to be successful as a team and I want to grow as a player accomplish the goals of first winning the division, then winning the conference, and hopefully the championship. Obviously the Ontario Reign fans are greatest in the league and I'm just really looking forward to getting back."
