Lancaster JetHawks News Release
Lake Elsinore, Ca. â The JetHawks were held to just five hits by Justin Germano in a 6-2 loss to The Storm at the Diamond. The loss was the fifth in a row - all against Lake Elsinore - dropping Lancaster (16-16) back to .500. The Storm (18-13) have taken 7 of 9 in the season series, and have won seven straight at home.
Germano (3-1) needed just 82 pitches to get through eight innings. Despite hitting three batters, the reigning Padres Minor League Pitcher-of the-Year allowed just one hit after the fourth inning, retiring 11 of the last 13 batters he faced.
The Storm however, had to play catch up early, as the JetHawks scored first for the 10th consecutive game. Chris Snyder doubled with two outs in the second, and scored on Bryan Johnson's single to left, his first RBI as a JetHawk.
Snyder scored the other run against Germano in the fourth. After getting hit with a pitch, Snyder scored two batters later on Mayo Santana's groundout.
Joe Hastings tied the game in the bottom of the second with a single to score Greg Sain, who doubled with one out. Josh Carter, the next batter, doubled in Hastings to give the Storm a lead they would keep for the rest of the game.
Matt Henrie (1-4) lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and five runs (four earned). The loss was the fourth in his last five outings, despite not allowing more than four earned runs in any start this season.
Sain and Carter each had three hits for the Storm. Jon Benick added a pair, including his third home run of the season, a two-run blast in the fifth.
The series concludes with a 7:05 p.m. start as Justin Wechsler (2-1, 6.20) takes the mound against newly acquired Kevin Beavers for Lake Elsinore.
