
Los Angeles Slam Announces One Last Tryout Chance

Los Angeles, CA. The ABA Los Angeles SLAM will have open tryouts for one day only on November 17th from 7pm to 10pm. The SLAM coaching staff will evaluate the basketball skills of participants and will invite select qualifying participants to the official LA SLAM practice on Saturday, Nov 21st. This is a one day tryout and there is no guarantee that you will be invited back to the official practice. Much of everything depends on the participants basketball skills and how they fit into the SLAM's present team.
All participants should come dressed in basketball shoes and attire and be ready to play. You must be at the gym at 630pm sharp for registration. The cost is $50.00 per player at the time of registration. No checks. Money orders or credit cards will be accepted. If you are planning to attend, please email coach@losangelesslam.com to reserve a spot. Tryouts will be at the Grant High School dym at 13000 Oxnard Street, Van Nuys, CA 91401.
"We have a very good team," stated Coach Don Sanchez, "but we are looking to improve even more." The SLAM defeated the California Beach Ballers on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 1500+ fans. It was a close game that went into overtime. The SLAM won by five points and it was the first pre-season ABA game for both teams.
The California Beach Ballers hosted the event and put together the star-studded charity event that was filled with celebrities. It started off with a very talented dance team and music was provided by a professional DJ. There was celebrity game which included ex-NBA players Sean Rooks, Bryon Russell, Olden Polynice and Tony Farmer as well as other professionals including NFL and WNBA players.
The SLAM's Hip Hop Superstar, "The GAME" and another player/rap artist "XO" from Black Wall Street Records showed their support by playing in the game also. There were also move and film industry people there and it was truly a community event. The celebrities played the Ontario Police Department and the Honorable Mayor of Ontario, attended the game and addressed the crowd. "It was truly a glorious start to what will be a great season," added Sanchez. "Kirk Turner and his people deserve a lot of credit and we know that they will have a successful season."
