Longtime Swarm Fan to Get Married at Halftime this Saturday
April 3, 2013 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - For the past seven years, Sarah O'Brien has gone to almost every Swarm game, whether as a fan or dedicated employee. The 22 year-old Apple Valley native is currently in her second season as a ticket operations intern, where she helps process tickets requests and assists the ticket department in the box office on gamedays. This Saturday, however, will be anything but an ordinary day at the office for O'Brien as she is set to marry her fiancé, Daelen Snow, on the field during the Swarm game.
"It's going to be very cool, I'm kind of nervous," O'Brien said. "I feel like having 10,000 people watching me as opposed to the typical 200 guests is going to be a little nerve-racking, but it should be fun."
The ceremony will be held at halftime of Minnesota's game against the Buffalo Bandits on Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center and will be the first on-field wedding in team history.
"She's been a huge asset to our organization, especially in the ticket operations department," said Swarm Manager of Ticket Sales Matt Ritzer. "She's gone above and beyond what we've asked of her to do and has done a lot of extra work for us and it's been a huge help."
Since she is a ticket operations intern, O'Brien will be working in the box office during the day prior to the game against Buffalo. She will then change into a dress and walk onto the field at halftime along with fiancé Snow, family members, and close friends for her wedding in front of thousands of Swarm fans.
Snow proposed to O'Brien last year at a Burnsville football game and the couple has decided on April 6th as the wedding date for a variety of reasons.
O'Brien is enlisting in the army and ships out early this summer for basic training. After that, she and husband-to-be Snow will be stationed in California for several years.
Their paperwork will need to be verified by the time O'Brien serves in the military and the timing of the lacrosse game must have been fate for the long-time fan and current Swarm employee.
"People should come out and be our legal witnesses for the first Swarm wedding in history," O'Brien said.
Fans who want to wish the happy couple well on their wedding day can find tickets at mnswarm.com.
Single Game Tickets start as low as $21 for all remaining home games in 2013. For purchasing information on both Season and Single Game Tickets, fans can call 1-888-MN-SWARM or visit mnswarm.com.
