Long Island Lizards Blast Into Brooklyn
April 9, 2007 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
New York Lizards News Release
Uniondale, NY (April 10, 2007) -- The Long Island Lizards of Major League Lacrosse today announced they will host a free lacrosse clinic on April 21 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm in association with Aviator Sports and Recreation in Brooklyn, NY. The Lizards joined up with Aviator Sports earlier this year and are kicking off the partnership with this clinic.
"Long Island has always been a hotbed for lacrosse," said Long Island Lizards President Dave Kotowski. "Now we want to help spread the game throughout New York City and a state of the art facility like Aviator provides us with the perfect venue."
"We are thrilled to welcome the Long Island Lizards to Brooklyn and Aviator Sports. The growth of Lacrosse among youth has been remarkable and we look forward to expanding its reach by introducing this legendary sport to new players in one of New York States fastest growing counties. Aviator Sports is proud to feature numerous clinics and camps this summer that will teach and inspire generations to come," said Tom Wells, General Manager, Aviator Sports.
The Lizards will also introduce L.E.E.P. (the Lizards Equipment Exchange Program) that day. Through the program the Lizards will collect new and lightly used lacrosse equipment and then distribute it to programs in need throughout New York City and Long Island. "We never want a child to be unable to play lacrosse because they can't afford the equipment," added Kotowski. "The sport has helped so many people, including myself, to achieve their goals in life and we want to let everyone have that opportunity."
The field will open up at 12 pm with the clinic beginning at 12:30 pm. The instructors at the clinic will be members of the Long Island Lizards team and coaching staff. The Long Island Lizards and Aviator Sports and Recreation invite kids from ages 5 to 18 to come down and learn from the best lacrosse players in the world.
Lizards 2007 tickets will be available for purchase at the clinic for a discounted rate. For more information log onto www.longislandlizards.com and www.aviatorsports.com.
