February 13, 2020 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning dropped their first home game of the season, 117-116. London led most of the game after being down one point heading into the second quarter before a late basket by Sudbury's Marlon Johnson ended the Lightning's home win-streak.
Missing Xavier Moon, Omar Strong, and Jaylon Tate played a roll in tonight's loss.
Late in the fourth quarter, with the Lightning leading by 7 points, the Budweiser Gardens shot clock would turn off and fail to turn back on. After a lengthy break, killing London's momentum, the Sudbury Five would capitalize on the confusion and close the game off, picking up the win.
Big man Randy Phillips enjoyed his best scoring game of the season, scoring a team-high 32 points on 77% shooting. Marcus Capers had another near triple-double posting an impressive statline of 22 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. Isom and Gaines had 15 and 14 off the bench while Bolden added 12 on the night.
The Lightning's five-game homestand continues this Saturday as the St. John's Edge make their first trip to the Budweiser Gardens. For tickets to the next home game make sure to visit the Budweiser Gardens Box Office or go to www.lightningbasketball.ca.
